About Me

Amp Repairs

I repair any sort of valve (tube) amp. Especially guitar amps. I charge £10 per hour. I have a no fix-no fee policy, that means if I can't fix it you don't pay anything. No fix no fee only applies to the valve parts of a hybrid amp. I don't work on purely transistor (solid state) amps.

New Amps

I can build a new guitar amp to your sonic specifications. I specialise in low power amps for great tone without hearing loss

Here is a 5w EL84 based head with a 2 channel preamp, on top. It doesnt have a top front plate yet in this picture.

Underneathis a 10w approx EL34 based combo, also with a 2 channel preamp, although this one is footswitchable.

Both of these amps are capable of seriously annoying the neighbours, although they might not keep up with a really loud rock drummer. They are actually too loud for me most of the time.

I can make amps down to about half a watt for recording.

The tatty old speaker cab at the bottom was not made by me!

The instrument is a 10 string electric bouzouki, made by me when I used to make instruments in the USA.

Here we have a closer view of the front panels of the 2 amps.

The left channel of each is high gain, goes from clean but with charachter to quite heavy distortion. It has 2 gain controls to allow the player to choose which preamp stage distorts first and how much.

The right channel is the "clean" channel, goes from totally clean up to classic rock amounts of overdrive.
